Since 2000, the Dolphin Head Trust has implemented several projects geared toward promoting sustainable conservation of the Dolphin Head Area. While the Trust has consistently addressed the themes of environmental conservation, education and alternative livelihoods, it has also been responsive to broader economic considerations which have historically demonstrated the ability to undermine conservation gains in the past.
In pursuit of this multi-faceted agenda, the Trust has actively sought the involvement and participation of stakeholders, including government, non-government and donor groups, and most importantly, the
residents of Hanover.
While the Trust has made great strides over the past five years, its work is far from complete. Each project developed by the Trust has represented one step along a development continuum. While this approach has helped lay the foundation for development in a systematic fashion - it has also underscored the need for continued support at local, national and international levels.
